We took our two Springer Spaniels to Splash for Dogs, not really knowing what to expect from either the dogs or the establishment.
Well, the whole operation is wonderful! The professional nature of the staff is fabulous.
The dogs were put at their ease straight away in what must have been a strange place for them to find themselves in.
Introduced into the pool with life preservers, they were coaxed around by my wife, walking around the spacious pool, whilst a member of staff was in the pool with them, offering assurance as they found their way.
They were both allowed to walk out of the pool for rest periods, but always introduced back into the pool with minimum persuasion.
As their confidence grew, the life preservers were taken off, and they were allowed to enjoy their swim 'au-natural'!
After the session, we were taken to the drying room where they were towelled down, and then dried off with a warm air blower.
Both our boys had a great time, we would recommend it, and will certainly be back.
As a foot-note, our boys need at least 4 hours hard exercise a day. After their first session at Splash for Dogs, they slept like tops!!
A great place and people
My young Dogue de Bordeaux bitch was suffering from some Hip Dysplasia issues. The vets referred me to a surgeon who wanted to operate. I felt this a little extreme in such a young dog so opted for a second opinion. After a consultation with a specialist at Liverpool University veterinary hospital they recommended medication and swimming.
We contacted Splash for dogs who were extremely helpful, we downloaded the relevant forms from their website, had our vet sign them and arranged a session. We took both our dogs along, we were blown away at just how nice the place was, Bram was very welcoming and put us at ease with his professionalism and knowledge. The dogs loved being in the pool, after the swim they were showered and dried with the very best equipment available.
After several weeks of visiting once a week we returned to the University veterinary hospital for a follow up review, they were amazed at how well her hip movement had improved.
Highly recommended, great facility and very friendly people. Keep up the excellent work guys!
We brought our Staffordshire Bull Terrier to assist with her shoulder problems and found that our Collie could swim for fun too. Splash have given our Collie confidence in the water and our Staffordshire Bull Terrier is toning up, becoming stronger on her weak shoulder and the pair of them get excited when we drive through the gates at Splash!
Sheya is a 9 yr German shepherd & has been swimming at splash for nearly 2 years. She has hip dysplasia and arthritis which came on early at the age of 7. She was referred for a hip replacement which wasn't for her. The surgeon told me the benefits of hydrotherapy for Sheya. She loves swimming, not only are the facilities amazing but the friendly welcoming atmosphere makes it fun for me and my dog!
I would like to say thanks to Bram and Kim for letting us use their hydrotherapy pool for our three dogs Tess, Jenny and Ebony. You have both been brilliant and have had so much time and patience to spend with our older Rottweiler Tess who has an aggression problem. Tess has come on brilliant since starting to use your pool and loves her weekly visits and she is now a good swimmer. Her mobility has improved since she has started to use the pool. Look forward to seeing you soon.
Sophie is now going for short walks thanks to the regular swims at Splash. She is much happier as she is able to go out again and her legs muscles are getting stronger. I really think that her fitness levels have improved so thank you for helping improve Sophie’s life.
It is always our pleasure to recommend “Splash for Dogs” to other members of the dog-owning fraternity. We have used the excellent facilities provided by Bram and his family since their inception.
“Splash for Dogs” presents a carefully designed therapy and leisure centre for all types, ages and sizes of dog; the staff are well qualified, interested in – and more importantly – have an obvious rapport with their four-legged clients.
Our two Newfoundlands have displayed a range of benefits from their “Splash” sessions. Ebony, our elderly black newfie, had weekly sessions closely supervised by Bram, which enabled her to exercise her elderly limbs in a safe, clean and warm environment. We are convinced that “Splash” kept her mobile, and enjoying her life, right up until her death at 12 years old. In contrast, Bracken, our young brown newfie, has swum regularly in the pool all her life. As a giant-breed puppy, this enabled her to develop sturdy legs and strong muscles with no risk of damage to rapidly growing joints. It also provided an easy way of engaging her enthusiasm and energy before she had matured enough to take longer walks. Now adult, Bracken enjoys monthly recreational sessions which maintain her fitness and provide her (and us) with evident pleasure.
Whatever the needs of your particular dog, we cannot recommend “Splash for Dogs” highly enough.
Unfortunately one of our dogs had to have an operation to remove his cruciate ligament. We were advised that our little Charlie would not get back his full movement (he is an energetic little chap) However that all changed when we went to Splash. Bram and Kim were extremely welcoming and new there stuff with regards to Charlie and his road to recovery. The pool is the largest and cleanest I have seen and we have been attending now roughly once a week for the past 12 months. Over this time the cleanliness, welcome and fantastic facilities are still top notch.
We highly recommend taking your dog to splash.
Charlie has fully recovered now; in fact I think he is a little bit more energetic. We take both our boys for a fun swim and they love it.
Your dog does not need to suffer from a condition to warrant a swim. Hydrotherapy is a brilliant form of fun and exercise and a fantastic way to maintain general fitness levels. We have a wide range of toys available for your dog’s enjoyment.
